Accessibility

Works for Freedom is an inclusive initiative. One of our central principles is that of non-rejection - our vision is of a society where everyone can participate to build healthy, enterprising, inclusive communities.

As such our websites should never exclude people, and to encourage a model of worldwide internet development that allows all users to enjoy web content regardless of the technology they use.

Whilst creating this website, we've incorporated recommendations and best practice from the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium's) Accessibility Initiative (WAI). By following guidelines set down by the W3C we are trying to make sure that all the information on our website is available to everybody: not just the text, but the information contained in the images and other media including Flash, video, and audio.

We are striving to meet Priority 2 (AA) of the WAI's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0).

Specific measures taken to ensure this include:

  1. Images have adequate alternative text and long descriptions if considered necessary
  2. The website has been constructed using HTML, XHTML and CSS to ensure that the site displays accurately regardless of browser
  3. Text is clear and information architecture does not depend on the use of colour
  4. A 'skip navigation' function has been incorporated - users can skip directly to the main content sections.

We are committed to improvement. If you have a particular need that we do not currently cater for, please contact us by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will do our best to help.
